Curious if any of you all have some feedback on this company. I have had pretty good luck overall with a few proof barrels. I am looking at putting together a 20" mild magnum build. Something in the 6.5 PRC category. It'll be for hunting deer/antelope in the west. Any feedback/experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks

Tagging in because I want to hear about the carbon version as well. I have a stainless AR barrel from X-cal that I like a lot.

I recently built a 7PRC with an X-caliber barrel in a Tikka action and am very pleased. I received the barrel in about 4 weeks and the fit/finish is great. It shoots very well. I haven't had time to work up a handload, but here is a group with factory Norma loads.

I have a prefit they did. CF, 16”, 6x45. It is a good shooter, it is their lightest contour. It is not light though, I just thought it would be cool to try one.

I have one of their prefit barrels on a 7mm rem mag tikka and I’m happy with it. It’s been ringing steel gongs at 1000 yards.

My X-caliber 6.5CM Savage carbon fiber barrel shoots well for me. Very nice finish on the cf and the metal as well.

They're doing a 20% off sale right now, FYI.

I’m struggling with one of their barrels right now. I sent it back to them. They said all their work checks out and that I had multiple case head separations or web blowout fissuring. I’m not sure what a web blowout fissure is. But I’d never had a case head separation or anything like that. When I get it back from them I’m going to bore scope it and check it out better. I will never buy from them again. I will stick with brux barrels. I had one I couldn’t get to shoot and told them and they sent me a new barrel no questions asked. X caliber is a huge no for me.

I bought a savage pre-fit 20” 7mm RSAUM from them in 2023. I’ve had great success with it so far. Shoots great and have used it to take multiple critters now.

Have a 6cm barrel of their on a tikka action. Just need to find time to shoot it. Buddy recommended them, I will say they are heavy

I’ve got a 6CM tikka barrel that shoots 1/2” or less from x caliber. Pre fit X caliber barrels are barrel nut barrels. Which means you are responsible for proper had spacing. You get case head separations due to improper head spacing. That’s not on the manufacturers. Are you using proper head space gauge to install yours?

There was never a case head separation or anything remotely close to that. The barrel was a blank that I brought to my gunsmith. I’ve used many barrel manufacturers over the years and only had one other barrel that wouldn’t shoot. I called them told them my problem and they made me a new blank no questions asked. X caliber told me since it was a blank and I had someone else chamber it they wouldn’t be able to warranty it. I asked them if I had it rechambered by a different gunsmith and it still wouldn’t shoot would they replace the barrel ? They said no because it was a blank and they couldn’t guarantee his work. Long story short do not buy from someone who won’t stand behind their product. I will never recommend them and if anyone asks I will tell them my experience.

I misunderstood your post then. But I still have questions. It sounds like X-caliber determined, upon inspection, that the barrel had suffered case head separations and also had evidence of fissures in the barrel due to such. You are saying you have not experienced any case head separations. Can you tell us exactly what problems you are experiencing with your barrel?

No case head separation ever not with any of my rifles. The accuracy is horrible I’ve had a couple groups that were just under 1” but could never duplicate those groups. Most of the groups were just under or over 2”. I tried 73 75 80 & 88 gr and 75gr gr bthp all hornady bullets. I tried hornady 6mmcreed brass necked down with cci200and 250 primers. I tried star line srp brass and Peterson srp brass with cci450 primers and the powders I tried were h4350 h4831sc accurate mag pro staball 6.5 vv n550 and superformance. Know that if u get a blank from them and it won’t shoot your on your own they will point their finger at the gunsmith.

And gunsmith points finger at barrel maker and/or the handloader. The vicious cycle continues. Lol.

Put two of them on a couple of Tikkas last year. A 20" 6.5 PRC and a 22" 280 AI. No problems at all with them and they both shoot great, especially running them out to longer distances after load dev.

So, you have a barrel that won't shoot and clearly shows damage in the chamber area and somehow that is X-Caliber's fault even though you bought it as a blank?
If you think that any of the other major barrel manufacturers will just give you a new barrel given those circumstances, you are fooling yourself.
