Does anyone know the muzzle/barrel diameter of the X-bolt Hells Canyon Long Range (UPC: 023614740315) in 7mm or 300 wm? I'm looking at buying one, cutting the barrel down a bit and adding a suppressor and I want to go direct thread (5/8x24). My gunsmith said barrel diameter needs to be 0.70 or greater to do 5/8x24 threads. I can't get a clear answer from Browning on barrel diameter...they sent me some specs that list heavy sporter barrel as having either 0.68 or 0.73 diameter. Thanks in advance for anyone that has this rifle and can give me a precise measurement.

My XBolt Max Long Range has a 5/8x24 muzzle brake and a heavy sporter barrel. I just swapped out the muzzle break with the new Hawg break from Browning and it fits perfect. I'll measure the barrel after having some coffee!

I just bought one of the 7 RM in Long Range... (023614740377). Not the one you asked about but thought I’d share anyhow in case it’s useful to someone. It’s got the 1/8 26” barrel.

It’s 5/8x24 (one pic shows my LMX can with same thread to confirm) and the barrel is around 0.733”. Let me know if you want measurements at different locations. Maybe the model you’re looking at doesn’t have the fluted barrel?

Thank you. That is super helpful. I accidentally used a 6mm UPC, your gun in either 7mm or 300wm is exactly what I'm looking to buy. And you ve confirmed it's a 0.73 diameter barrel. Really appreciate the info and pics...now I can order my suppressor and get the clock started!

I love my new 7 RM (my second in that caliber). A real pleasure to shoot - I’ve sent maybe 150 rounds down the pipe in last couple months. Monkeying around with reloads, it really likes the 168 VLDs.

Had some handloaded 300 win mags worked up for the gun. 220 grain ELDXs shooting 0.5 MOA!!!!!!!! Gun is sweet and shoots lights out. I also have a XBolt 30 06 Speed and a XBolt Western hunter in 28 Nosler. The 30 06 shoots factory Federal 180 grain TBT's < 1" MOA and the 28 shoots handloaded 162 grain ELDXs at < 0.75" MOA.

Any suggestions between the barrels of the LR Hell Canyon and the LR Western Hunter? Obviously the fluted is lighter and cerakote... guessing it comes down to if that's important to my hunting.

What suppressor do you have? Is it a QD or thread on?

It’s a liberty mystic X but I don’t shoot it on the 7 mag - was just confirming thread pattern. That’s a can better fit for blackout, 9 mm, 22, etc. If I wanted to hunt with one I’d be inclined to go big and get one of the higher end models you see guys talk about on here.
