Well, finally drew 1st season bear tag in Bergland as a non resident. Excited to get to hunt up around the cabin as there is some great potential for a big blackie to hit the ground.
Anyone else on here hunting UP for bear? If so would be curious where and what you are baiting with?
im going with sugar cones, peanut butter granola, lucky charmes and cherry juice.

Took me 13 points, however I could have drawn the last 2 years just didn’t have time to hunt so put it off. Looks like only 6 NR getting tags this year for 1st season

You will be fine with that bait. I've hunted East of Bergland a few times, Baraga and Amasa. Used donuts, cherry pie filling etc. Some guys start out with fish or something like that until the bear really want to start putting on fat but most use sweets exclusively.

I have empty barrel's if you need any to keep bait in. You probably drive pretty close to me on your way up.

Quick update. Got a guy baiting for me up there and both baits are getting hit pretty hard. Will be up there Labor Day weekend to pull cameras and post some pics before opening day. Best of luck to all bear hunters this year

Bears are still hitting the baits every day. Most are in the day light as well which is a plus. Anyone else in UP experiencing the same activity? 1 week 1 day to opener!
