Where's the 'all of those, plus a few not mentioned & a shit load that nobody would think of. Basically all of them, okay?' option?

“ go to”, “best”, and “desirable” might not account for much, but I’ll always hang my hat on my 50 year old M70 in 270. Weight and caliber be damned.

It’s the Timex of rifles....

Like rescue dogs, my rifles found me. Rarely see mention of Interarms Mark X (Mauser 98) on here, so I will. In my dreams, I'm packing a Savage model 99 in .284. In my wildest dreams, I can load 7-08 in my m 99.

I have shot rems, Winchester, browning, savage, tikka, and cz. My 308 cz will not leave me unless I have to walk far because it is a heavy cuss but it is just one of those guns that shoots great.

I'm loving my new custom, so would take that right now. However my Browning BAR has put a tremendous amount of wild game in the freezer and may still be my favorite

All-time favorite is an old school rifle: Newton 1st edition rifle in 256 Newton
2nd is my semi-custom Win model 70 in 264 WM
Then it gets tough to choose.

my stainless Ruger m77 m2 in 338 winmag has always done the Job, altough I am picking up a Remy in 300 RUM Thursday and going to be getting a Tikka SL in 6.5 Creedmore before long.

Hard to answer this based on manufacturer alone. An older Remington 700 is a far cry from a 783. Browning and Winchester may be the same company, but I don't think of my Winchester 70 as equivalent to a Browning bolt. Have been through a few, and I'm pretty set on Winchester 70s.

Nothing feels as good in my hands as a Remington 700, and I've killed a pile of critters with them... But these days I have as many Tikka's living here as 700's . I compete in local club level score matches with Tikka .223 superlite as it's a better mousetrap for that.

The rifle I use? Or the one I want that my wife won’t let me get?

My only big game rifle is a Christensen arms mesa in 300wm. Only had it two years but it’s my favorite gun I own by far. Shoots good, and is the right weight for me to shoot it decent. It’s esentially just a rem 700 though.

I have a couple tikkas as well, well the wife has one and we have a t3 in 223 as well. I do like the tikka l, though if I had one as my main rifle I would have already sunk big bucks into upgrading some of the stuff I didn’t care for, then there’s the slow twist in cal I want, and short mags.

Another Savage 99 fan here. Started hunting with a 99f in .308 right at 45 years ago. A lot of rifles have come and gone since then, but that 99 is still my favorite.
