Look for women's boots with gortex. On the harness, I've used a traditional style bino harness for the little ones, adjusted as tight as it will go and tied a knot on one or both sides behind their shoulder to take up more slack.

The Vortex harness fits my 10 and 8 year old. 7X binos are going to be a little small in the pouch.

Just like HiMtnHntr said ---- go with female boots. My 12 year old son has an Elk Hunt coming up in late November. I needed to get him into a good warm pair of hunting boots. I found a pair in Cabelas, the brand was "SHE" boots. He fit into them well, and I got a little bit bigger size to leave room for growth.

I've had pretty good luck getting youth insulated hunting boots for around the $50 mark from Sportsmans or Cabelas. I always get my son boots with a little insulation so his feet don't get cold.

Kids don’t really need super high end type boots to do well. My kids still run Walmart boots and they easily hike more than most adults. We hiked 7 miles in the rain the day I killed my bull this fall, we backpack as a family and the boys have done several 10+ mile days in a row and have never complained about sore feet. They also shed hunt in the snow in the spring with me and just wear cheap sno packs or their hunting boots.
They’ve been doing hikes like this since they were like 6 years old. Kids are so light they really don’t need much support from a boot, really they just need something to keep their feet dry. Kids grow fast so I’d wait until closer to the trip to buy boots, just take him and buy him something that fits and some good wool socks.

Comfort should outweigh cost 100%. You can see in the pic where the boys are wearing hunter orange below my youngest, 10 at the time was wearing his 10x42’s around his neck in the case they came in. He won them at an archery shoot last year and packed those things everywhere he went last fall.
