It’s deer season! Archery’s been open since late July for Cali hunters while the Nevada tag holders started in early August.  Quite a few muzzleloader velvet hunts are underway, and even a few rifle seasons, too.  With October just a few weeks away, thousands more tag holders will be hitting the field of dreams for their buck of dreams.  For mule deer hunters, it’s the best time of the year, so it’s time for some mule deer podcasts!

I put in a lot of hours on various podcasts this last year and wanted to assemble a blog post with all the titles so anyone interested could easily access. I’ve included the links below, but you can find these just about anywhere you listen to podcasts.

The generous hosts were kind enough to have me on to talk about mule deer and other topics, so if you find their podcasts helpful, give them a subscribe. After all, there’s no better way to pass the time on a long drive to deer camp than by firing up a few podcasts.

The Links

Jordan Budd of our own Rokcast Podcast had me on in early summer to talk about scouting and planning mule deer hunts.

Summer Mule Deer

Brian Barney from Eastman’s Elevated Podcast had me on recently. We got rolling on mule deer and I got so excited, I was up at 4:00 the next morning and went scouting. Loved talking with such an engaging host.

Hunting Big Mule Deer with Robby Denning

When Aron Synder of Kifarucast calls for a podcast, you pull the truck over and record a podcast! This one is multi-subject but we do talk mule deer!

Robby Denning on Kifarucast

Hunter McWater’s of The Hunter’s Quest Podcast had me on back in August. This one is on how my faith has shaped my deer hunting. If you don’t like “God Talk”, then you won’t like this one (but as my friend Toby Anglin says, that just means you should listen anyway.)

Hunting For Miracles

East Meets West Podcast, hosted by Beau Martonik. We hit a few hunting stories on big bucks and how mule deer hunting has changed over the decades.

A Lifetime of Hunting Big Mule Deer Bucks

Finding Backcountry with Dustin Wittwer is a great podcast with a generous & knowledgable host who knows how to find big mule deer himself.  We talked the state of mule deer and the dilemma of pulling tags for the non-resident hunter.

Robby Denning on Finding Backcountry

Hunt Backcountry is one of the best backcountry podcasts out there.  I was thrilled to be on with Mark Huelsing and Steve Speck of EXO MTN Gear. We get beyond the glass in this one.

Beyond Spot & Stalk

Johnny Mack’s the host of the Soulful Hunter Podcast and we get “soulful” about mule deer.

Mule Deer with Robby Denning

John Stallone’s host of the Days in the Wild podcast had me on a few years back and has said this episode keeps ranking in his top 10 of all time. So here you go….(thanks John!)

Robby Denning
Robby Denning started hunting mule deer in the late 1970’s, only missing one season in 35 years. At 25, he gave up the pursuit of all other big-game to focus on taking the best bucks possible. He began hunting the West on a DIY budget hunting an average of 30 days a year for mule deer. Robby loves the hunt as much as the kill and the entire process from research to scouting to hunting. He’s killed four bucks over 200 inches in the last 15 seasons, mostly on easily-obtained tags. He owns a public-land scouting service and runs a private-land outfitting business helping other hunters in their pursuit of deer and elk. Robby has scouted and hunted literally thousands of square miles of mule deer country and brings a wealth of knowledge about these experiences with him. To him, the weapon of choice is just a means-to-an-end and will hunt with bow, rifle, or muzzleloader – whatever it takes to create an opportunity to take a great mule deer. He is also the author of "Hunting Big Mule Deer" available on Amazon. Robby believes all of creation is from God for man to manage, respect, and through which to know its Creator
