Just a few of the bigger bulls one of my hunting buddies I grew up with has come across already this year. These are 3 of the 7 winter kill bulls he has found. The deer had shed already so even though there is a lot of them its hard to tell. IDFG says it was mostly the fawns and calves however there is a lot of everything being found.

Remember Idaho fish and game wants to sell tags, so they will not say how bad it was.

It was a hard winter and there's still a few feet of snow in a decent portion of that country, I'd expect the winter kill was accordingly ugly. Might make them a little quieter zones until they rebound, but I expect any rebounds will be prolonged with the all the new cow tags they've added in some of those units for rifle hunters.
