Breaking the Slump Film is here

Breaking the Slump Film is here

Looks good. Passed by Robby and his horse trailer last fall on a way to a hunt, was wondering what kind of bucks he was chasing.

Swarovski SLC 10x42 discontinued, what is the next best option in the same price range??

I just got a pair of 10X42 SLC's shipped to me from Scheels this past week. I am a tightwad so it was hard for me to pony up the money for Swaros, but I figure the buy once cry once saying is true. The new NL's were tempting but out of my league for price.

Idaho Mule Deer 2020-2025 Management Plan

It was a lot of information to digest. I thought if they do change the Hybrid-general controlled hunt sounded promising. They would let you hunt any general unit oct 10-24 but if you applied and drew you could also hunt Oct 1st-5th and Oct 25-31st.(Thats how I understood it, maybe I am wrong.)...

Thanks for posting that. It looks like the scenarios from the earlier surveys we filled out might take place for better or worse.

What’s the coolest thing you found in the back country

I found this potato sized crystal rock at about 9200 ft in Idaho this year. I usually don't like to pack out rocks but this one was too cool to leave behind.

Hunting Big Mule Deer - a Rokslide.com original film

Watched it with my kids yesterday, really enjoyed it. I like learning about the fine details about tracking and looking at hair in buck beds, stuff I usually just blow by because I am always in a hurry to get to the next ridge. Good stuff.

    Seek Outside Silex

I got the Silex with a stove jack and Cub stove for Christmas this year. Finally set it up today and burned in the stove in my back yard. Seems real nice, pretty simple to set up. I was amazed how much heat the little cub stove put out once it got going, the only pain was getting the stovepipe...

    Kenetreks on Ebay

I bought a pair of the Hardscrabble Hikers before that were preowned but new shape, no problems at all. I don't remember the exact price but it was a great deal. I also bought a preowned pair that didn't fit and I had no problem returning them to Kenetrek. You just have to keep your eyes open...

    Cimarron/Hot tent questions

After spending the past few general deer seasons in central Idaho freezing, I have decided to get a hot tent set up. My first question is would the Cimarron with a stove be overkill for a solo backpack hunter? I know it can be tricky finding flat spots to set up my current backpacking tent so I...

    October Idaho Whitetails

Hi, I was wondering if it is worth the time to hunt Idaho Whitetails in late October or are they completely nocturnal at this time. I was thinking about checking out unit 15 Grangeville area. I am not looking for a giant just want a chance at a buck with my regular deer tag. Thanks.

    Idaho 43 migration

I was wondering with this past weekends weather if the deer in 43 had migrated out yet? I hunted the opener in 43 this year and found some bucks but was not able to close the deal. Do the mature bucks in that country stay high or are they already down in their wintering areas already. Thanks for...

    Domestic Sheep Effect

I took this picture a couple of years ago while scouting some high country in Idaho, my tent is in the background. I had the area to myself until evening time when these sheep came pouring into the area. Needless to say I didn't get much sleep that night with the guard dogs barking, coyotes...
