    Favorite Sheep Hunting Pants

Interesting thread. Have any of you tried any pants from Stone Glacier? Im pretty tall (36" inseam) and they seam to be one of the few that offer something for thin, taller folks.

    Kodiak Deer limit change

You would if there was a truck in every pull out, a side by side on every ridge, and camo clad people from all over the country flocking there to kill three mule deer bucks.... then posting it on SM to invite everyone else that didnt show up.... every year! You'd be crying

    Kodiak Deer limit change

So what you are saying is, If those of us from Alaska want to come down to the lower 48 and hunt, we should be allowed to kill 3 deer in Oregon just to make it "worth our while"?

    Historically Low Alaska Sheep Harvest

Thank you- this is a more accurate way of wording my thoughts on it. I was just suggesting the idea of guided sheep hunters (non res.) incidentally taking predators while on a sheep hunt is low enough not to be considered in this context. For that matter there are an awful lot of resident sheep...

    Historically Low Alaska Sheep Harvest

What are the harvest numbers of wolves taken opportunistically by guided hunters in 19C the last 5 years? My guess is 0. I agree the wolves and bears need thinned out in that area, but using it as a reason to keep guides taking sheep hunters there doesnt hold water IMO.

    Ibex Hunting in Spain

Not sure if this is the proper place for this thread, but... Im looking for any recommendations or warnings from anyone who has experience hunting Ibex in Spain. I have extensive mountain hunting experience (mostly dall sheep and goats in Alaska), but i have never done an international hunt...

    2022 Alaska Draw results

I hate to state the obvious, but the state allowing us to put in for 6 tags/specie was not to increase our odds of drawing a tag... it was for them to make more money (which I don't have a problem with). The odds of drawing a tag doesnt double by putting in for 6 unless everyone else is still...

    Stone sheep beware

Im seeing a theme of "the good ones dont do that", and I agree the good ones dont set out to shaft the hunter, which is why there is frustration that the OP doesnt name names and call out one for folks who are seriously interested in doing a stone hunt to be aware of. As stated above finding...

Help aging rams ? Family banter

That certainly is a great sheep above and gets the juices flowing to get out and look for one like that. I put it at 12. I personally think if a ram is brought in that is not 100% full curl and the "professionals" have a difficult time aging it based on true annual rings and "false" annuali, a...

Help aging rams ? Family banter

Very hard to tell from one picture, but I would say 8. This thread is exactly what it sounds like at the ADF&G sealing shed.... they have 4 different biologists look at it and come up with 3 different ages. Its funny unless your the one bringing in the sheep hoping the kid just out of collage...

    Stone sheep beware

I agree! I Love it when a resident gets a ram in an outfitters area... especially THE ram they are after. Please post the name of the outfitter so Rambucsabillbul can go chase rams there! :) Useless to post a story like to "help" future sheep hunters and not call the outfitter by name...

    Barrels

That is true. Sometimes they run out of patience. Its a balancing act sometimes to keep them interested, but not eat you out of house and home.

    Barrels

2-3 usually. Some only drill 1 to really slow down how much they get out. Depends on how many bears you have coming to your bait and how close your bait is to someone elses. If there are other baits they visit, they will go to the ones that they can sit and eat all the bait in a short time...

    Barrels

Yes, smaller holes will help make the bait last longer and keep the bears at your bait site longer. 1" holes should work great for baits like dogfood or grain type foods, but doesnt work well for things like doughnuts. Also want to make sure you chain or use cable to the tree, otherwise they...
