I’ve been loading 150 gr Speer’s with 31 grains of IMR 3031 for my 336 for years, with good results on Texas whitetails. The most exotic I’ve tried is 170 grain Sierra’s with LVR, my rifle didn’t care for it (either that or I’m getting old).
It’s a 30-30. Don’t overthink it or try to make a...
Not exactly a 32 Remington, but i used to have a 30 Remington and used 30-30 data (with Speer 150 gr and IMR 3031) to good effect. All the data i dug up claimed to be interchangeable; this was before the advent of the LVR stuff.
I kept them on the light side because it was an old Model 8.
Wife and I are doing an ok job of it, did have a couple beers at my brother in law’s retirement party on the 12th. Biggest improvement is the sleep and less fog in the mornings.
And,,,, they don’t exactly give the stuff away. I’m sure we’ve saved a bundle the last few weeks.
In the past I’ve used the .30 150g #2011 in a 30-30 for my standard Texas whitetail load; shot several with them and never had a bad experience. Back in the day they were cheap and plentiful.
Their .338 200g Hot Core at 2900 fps shoots very nicely in my 338 WM and almost makes it bearable to...
Thanks for the responses. I’m just going to get some Xtratuf’s and see what happens. In the total scheme of the hunt, a pair of rubbers isn’t going to matter much.
We’ll be staying in a cabin, with boot driers, hairdryers, etc. Washer and dryer means i’ll have an unlimited amount of clean dry socks and i always carry dry socks with me in the field. I can take as much stuff as i want seeing i’ll be paying for extra baggage anyway.
My main concern with...
Planning a blacktail trip for ‘25 on Prince of Wales island. A long ways out, but no time like the present to plan stuff out. We will be going mid-late October and I’m trying to figure out the boot issue.
Should I worry with full-rubber boots? Or will waterproof hikers be sufficient? I’ve heard...
I know this is an old thread, but is the name of the Hank Shaw book mentioned above titled "Buck, Buck, Moose" ?
I'd like a good book about how to do individual cuts and what not (where good steaks come from, chili meat, average steaks, etc). MeatEater's book doesn't really cover that. I have no...
I’ll start this by saying I’m not a foodie. Whatever I can wolf down usually works for me.
Enter my brother, who is a great cook and loves to do it. He brings a two burner Blackstone that has wheels and folds up so you can pull it like a roller suitcase (Lowe’s exclusive I believe) and will cook...
I’ve put a few dies through my tumbler before, but I don’t think you’ll get enough abrasion (is that the correct term?) to actually polish the inside. But it will polish the outsides pretty good.
I would imagine a properly sized brass brush or brush / steel wool combo will do the trick for an...
The only expenses i keep track of are applications and tags; that’s mainly so I know what CC to use. I’m not organized enough to track tanks of gas, groceries, etc. I consider that the cost of a good life.
When we got married I already had most everything I needed for regular hunts and I’ll...
