If you changed to a sirui t-025x and used the ball head that comes with it you'd save about 8 oz. I'm pretty happy with the ball head that comes with the t-025x, but I've also never used a really right stuff unit
Sirui t-025x if your looking for ligjt weight. Time you put a digital set up on it, it may not be a heavy enough tripod. I'd take another look at some of the siriu tripods, really well made
What does everyone use for binos while backpacking? I'm currently running a leupold 10x42 but looking to get into something lighter. I'd like to stay with 10x zoom though.

thanks, i'll do that. it seems in the research i've done that the kimber issues were back in 2000-2006ish, and people have bad opinion of them from that, but lots of happy guys with the newer ones.

my view on the detachable magazine is this- theres alot of items in my pack that if i were to loose them, would be very bad (first aid kit, stove, ect). but i don't carry spares of them, just make sure you don't loose the item! a gun will...
