Both are excellent choices if they agree with your rifle. Don't overlook the Hornady Outfitter 120gr cx round as well.
I'm a very big fan of monolithic rounds for whitetail out of the 6.5 as the bullet is moving fast enough at close range that the added strength of the copper is extremely...
I'm in full agreement with this. Have been hunting out of an assault this year, and have setup in some pretty small trees.
Keep in mind if you're a bigger guy, you're also silhouetted a lot more on smaller trees.
I thought it was mentioned in one of the recent podcasts with the guys from FMF, but I could be mistaken. Couldn't be released soon enough...the existing Pro-M is one of the more frustrating harnesses to use...
I like to use it for quite a bit. I often hunt with my wife and father in law on a property, and it makes it really easy to communicate where things are, where I see deer, and where they're headed. We'll use it as well for sharing waypoints between us, i.e. if I hang a new stand the father in...
It's getting pretty late, but is there any corn still up in adjacent parcels, or any nearby hay fields? Those seem to be the food sources of choice at the moment if you can find them before it's covered in snow.
Hunting that first area marked 1 above is an easy first step into the property...
I've had great luck this year with Hornady Outfitters with the 120gr GMX out of my Bergara. 1/2-3/4 MOA @ 200 yards, and still expands plenty on the closer shots. Shot 2 does with it this year at 80 and 150 yards respectively. Minimal meat loss (right behind the scapula on both), and both...
What 58" bow are you shooting now? ILF, or a traditional one piece like a Bear Grizzly? For 28" draw, I'd recommend a 60-62" bow.
For ILF, the limb sizes short/medium/long add the following lengths to whatever your riser length is:
Short: 41"
Medium: 43"
Long: 45"
So for a standard ILF 25"...
I've got the 1800 that I use for whitetail. Front pockets get like you say, headlamp and a release if I've got the compound, power pack etc. CAT tourniquet on a holder on the shoulder strap.
The vertical zipper outside pocket gets my harness and linemans belt that I'll put on at the tree...
All of the WNS limbs are designed to be shot with 8125/Mercury. As mentioned above, the Nika N3s are great limbs as well. Shot a whitetail last year with a set. The only downside of them is that the set I have didn't make the advertised draw weight, and ended up being about 5% low with the...
I always trim the rind on mine, but will admit that it's a quick job always falling on the side of leaving a little dry opposed to hacking away more meat...especially things like roasts that are going in the crockpot for a bit will rehydrate the bits I may miss.
