I called the DNR, and told them about the ram. They said there is a population of sheep in that area that they reintroduced from Montana in 2009. Unfortunately they have come into contact with domestic sheep and the herd population is around 25-50.
Utah, Nine Mile/Jack Creek unit. He's about 25 miles away from what the DWR said the population range was, so I think I might give them a call tomorrow to let them know what's up, worse things worse they don't care.
The sheep themselves are Rockies, and looking at the transplant data, the...
Stumbled across this ram all alone today and wondered what he scores and ages at. At first I thought he was young but after getting a better look he had scars on his face and seemed pretty decently broomed. My guess was 8-10 and scores around 165. I remember reading something that old rams like...
My story is really similar to that kid. At 16 years old I drew an insanely coveted tag with 3.1% odds. I was out hunting with my dad and even had a 300 win mag. I glassed up a giant buck, also on the first day, and low and behold, it was 700 yards away. I still remember looking over at my dad...
It seems like Steve was trying to save face in a way but it was too late and he didn't know the story. They still should've called him out though, but I get why they didn't.
Because in my experience most the anti-hunters are uniformed, and not knowing is easier than knowing. All conversations with them go something like this:
"I'm fine with hunting, I just don't like trophy hunting"
"I eat everything I kill, the meat is the best part"
"Oh I'm fine with that"...
In case you really wanna know, per the DWR records request page FAQs:
Question: What are common requests that get denied?
Answer: Requests for guzzler locations, age classification on any species, GPS locations on any species and permittee information outside the opt-in report.
How hard can...
I was reminiscing about this thread and the memories, and noticed I never wrapped it up. I never got back up there, so never killed a buck. That's okay though, I think it's better that way. An older relative of mine who has hunted up there a bunch back in the day said all the fun would be ruined...
Probably more.
This got me thinking, so I'll share what I gathered from my internet research for heavy duty rain gear.

Kuiu Yukon Set (not the new one)- $708 - 46.2 oz -2.89 lbs

Sitka Thunderhead...
I watched the exclusive event where they announced the new rain gear. It seems pretty similar, with a 3 layer construction but an additional fourth layer on the elbows, butt, lower leg, basically all the high abrasion areas. I'm kind of surprised it's not out yet, should be very soon
From a thread I found on Monster Muleys:
"In 2005 I had to have a serious surgery, and couldn't make my deer hunt. I had to provide proof from my Dr. stating my condition. I recieved a refund and lost my points. About as fair as a guy could hope for!"
And from a Go Hunt article:
" Basically...
