    Best pack for sheds...some packing

I would hang a MSR dromedary from the frame, nalgene bottle in a kifaru water bottle holder on the belt, snacks in a belt pouch.

    Getting in shape. 85lbs down.

Congratulations to you and your wife! I have a lot of respect for the dedication and hard work you've put in. And bet it feels amazing!

    What's your preferred water bladder?

Nalgene with an MSR Dromedary hung between the bag and frame. I keep a piece of tenacious tape over the flip cap as a just in case.

Sleeping bag for end of Aug/early sept in CO

The REI Joule takes this into consideration. It's a women's specific bag. Higher fill and lower EN rating than the men's version.

    Supertarp cordage

Thanks, Tim. I understand the standard setup with the bottom pinned to the ground and have the included cordage. I was hoping for a ballpark number for the cordage required to pitch it off the ground, say 2ft. It would require cordage for the corners and possibly longer lengths for the sides and...

    Supertarp cordage

I picked up a Supertarp. Can any ST users put me in the ballpark on what cordage lengths I need to set it up in tarp mode? Like the pics on the kifaru site. I'd like to avoid cutting too short while at the same time minimize the number of leftover too short for anything besides zipper pulls...

Sleeping bag for end of Aug/early sept in CO

An EE quilt for me, and a REI Joule for my wife. The Joule is a really nice bag. She absolutely loves it. REI has a men's model also, but I'm not sure of the name. I can't do mummy style bags. I've seen the Joule go on sale and expect it will again, but I think it's worth it even at full price.

    Duck hunting kayak

Take a look at Malibu Kayaks. Up until 3years ago, I lived on a sailboat for 12yrs. I've spent a more than a minute or two saltwater fishing from a kayak. Drop the kayak off the side and paddle out. I fished a Malibu Xtreme, could take a nap in it with no worries. Super stable. Still have it. A...

    Kifaru Woodsman zipper question

Easier to stuff meat in the bag? Just a guess.

    The big D

A few thoughts... life can teach us humility if we're willing to learn its lessons. It enables us to let go of resentments, learn compassion, and consideration for others which in turn makes us stronger, happier, and better people in general. Take care of yourself and you'll be better for her...

    Versatile Puffy

Not sure if they have a hooded version, but take a look at the REI Revelcloud. On sale around $60. It's synthetic. Blocks wind well. I picked one up at the beginning of the year, and have used it on several backpacking trips. I didn't expect much with how thin it is but it's kept me warm around...

Kifaru Doobie instead of a sleeping bag?

You should be fine. Ive used a woobie a few nights and had temps drop into the low 40s and was fine. No foot box so I slept in socks. Making a foot box would definitely allow a person to take it colder.

Needing a custom silpoly tarp made

Oware makes cat tarps. Someone else will have to comment on quality. I have no experience with them.
