    CA B3 Bear down

Congrats, oldskool. I'm heading up to the Alps this week. Seems likes acorns are what to hunt this time of year.

About to buy outdoorsmans digiscope setup. Any thoughts for/against?

If I understand correctly, you have a dedicated iPhone for digiscoping? If so, I don't really see any negatives to the Outdoosmans. The threading is fine, so be sure not to cross-thread.

No plugs for the Strassburg Sock? Fixed my (granted, relatively mild) case of PF in about a month. The Strassburg Sock™ | Heel Pain Relief | Official Manufacturer Website Sleeping with it takes some getting used to, though.

    cA Black Bear Hibernation

I spent 3 days in the Trinity Alps over this last weekend. Started in Hobo Gulch and then moved over to Virgin Creek. I saw no hobos or virgins. The only bears I saw were on the drive to/from the Virgin Creek trail head... a beautiful cinnamon sow with cubs on the way in and a black boar on the...

    cA Black Bear Hibernation

I'm interested, as well. I still have a bear tag, and I was considering heading up to the Trinity Alps for Thanksgiving weekend. Wondering if it's too late.

Effective Range of .243 on Antelope

^^ This is how it's done. Energy transfer to the animal is the key. I'd keep the terminal energy above 800 ft-lbs to be safe...but the bullet must be designed to reliably expand at the associated terminal velocity.

You, sir, have excellent taste. I just got the exact same setup, and I possess various scotches and a fondue set.

    Going quiet

OP, you're going to have to either chop the barrel or walk around with a 33-ish inch barrel. I'd chop it considering how well the .308 does in a short-barrel configuration. For reference, an 18" barreled .308 will cost you about 150 fps over a 26" with a 168 grain bullet. TBAC is tough to beat...

    Need a smith

+1 for Short Action Customs. Lots of good 'smiths out there, but Mark is one that I can vouch for from personal experience.

    Browning Xbolt long range hunter

GKPrice, I can't tell if you're agreeing or disagreeing with me. WRT, SAAMI specs, the chamber dimensions don't have anything to do with accuracy on there own. It's the relation between the chamber dimensions and the ammo being fired. Then we can start to talk OBT, OCW, barrel harmonics and the...
