Looking at throwing something with some power on my slug gun.

Looking at a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x24

Any reason I should look at something else? I currently just run a red dot scope with 0 power and am looking at extending out the range. I prefer this over my rifle for some reason and can shoot lights out at 100 yards with no power as it sits. Typical shot is less than 50 yards, but there's always target shooting.

I've never shotgun hunted for deer so I maybe way off so if I am I apologize. I hunt a ton of turkey and use a burris FF3 that works really well, I would think it would do a bang up job on deer inside 100 yards. Just a thought.

A slug gun while put a beating on a scope.
Leupold vx2 2-7x32 has worked well for me.

Any quality rifle scope will work on your shotgun. Here in Maryland shotguns only allowed in most of the state. I have mostly used Leupold but friends have had no problem with Burris, Bushnell and nikon. Im sure the Vortex would work well.

I hunted whitetails in Ohio for years. The gun season is shotgun only there. I had no issues with a standard Nikon 3, 3-12x42. I shot a weatherby 12ga with no issues.

I have used the old version of Nikon's new PROSTAFF P3 SHOTGUN 3-9x40 BDC 200 shotgun scope for 9 years now and it has worked great. Excellent eye relief and the BDC reticle lets me dial in longer shots. We have whacked pumpkins at 150 and 175 yards using this scope and Spot On. The new PROSTAFF P3 SHOTGUN 3-9x40 BDC 200 has some much nicer features over my old Slughunter scope. Under $200 it will serve you very well and it is backed by Nikon's No Fault Warranty. Win win.

I've run a Leupold VX1 3-9x40 on my slug gun and my muzzleloader with zero issues for 4 years. The 2-7 is a good option as well.

I run a nikon 3 - 9 × 40 with bdc. My gun is a H&R single shot 20 gauge heavy barrel.

This gun really shoots well. I have had it for over 10 years and have had zero issues.
