CDS Question

Just curious about the factory dial the CDS scopes come with. Are they a setup dial or a mil dial? I'm considering one for a rifle but I'm not completely set on a load just yet and I didn't know if I would be able to get a dial ordered before season. Is there a way to use the CDS system without getting a dial inscribed?

The factory dial is in 1/4 MOA increments. You can use a ballistic calc app which tells you the adjustments in MOA. The numbers on the factory dial then help you keep track and return to zero.
