Shopping around for a regular scope. No more than 10x magnification, and without all the bells and whistles of a tactical scope. Kinda like a 3x9x40, that has generous eye relief and can hand the recoil of a big bore single shot. I keep seeing threads on Leupold not holding zero.
Looking for a custom 35 whelen. I know there are several custom bbl makers doing these, but all the ones I talked to, are out of stock and months out from having anymore. Prefer stainless
I got some first lite merino thermals last year for a 9 day back pack hunt. I liked them, but 9 days last year and 7 day hunt this year, and they are shredded. Are there more durable merino options? Or is merino just not a long term product?
Leaving in the morning to go to unit 53 in Colorado. Looking at the weather for Somerset, and it shows rain Sat thru Tues. with lows in the high 30's. Somerset is at @6000' elevation, and the trail head is just south of there @8000'. Will be hunting higher, so how much colder does it get as...
Wtb Supertarp
Looking for a used, but still functional Supertarp with annex and stove jack in coyote. This will be for a solo, so I probably won't need something as big as a mega tarp, unless the price is too good to turn down.
I have been searching different threads on trekking poles, but most are asking about different brands. The questions I have are:
Are the shockcorded models durable?
Will the carbon fiber models be as durable as aluminum?
Are the shock absorbing ones worth it, or just an nuisance?
I have a pair of Asolo Moran boots that are several years old, and starting to show their age. I tried finding another pair of these, but they seem to have been discontinued. Anyone familiar with the Asolo models, know which newer model would be comparable?
Running a merino base layer, puffy, and hard shell, how cold of temps are you comfortable in? I realize while hiking and moving you can stand pretty cold temps, due to generating heat from activity, but what about sitting on a ridge glassing for an hour or two?
How many of you actually pack snowshoes with you on a backcountry elk hunt in mid October. I've read several places that you can get a lot of snow dumped on you that time of year, but is carrying the extra weight of snowshoes worth it?
For those of you who layer up with merino base layer and use a puffy for insulation, with a hard shell to top it off. What do you use as an insulation layer for your lower body?
I have a eureka apex2, but was considering something else to use for a spike camp in 2nd rifle season in Colorado. It will be for 1-2 people. Going to backpack in for a few miles, so a weight savings would be nice.
I saw a kifaru video a while back where Aron was saying the best way was to let out the compression straps between the pack and duplex frame, then put the neat bag between them. I was looking at a video earlier of the dt1 and it shows it attaching at the top with a hypalon sleeve. Has the dt1...
