There is a new podcast in town. A local Oregon guy just started a traditional bowhunting podcast! Larry d jones was his first guest! He is interviewing a buddy of mine who is an elk hunting machine, he has taken over 20 Roosevelt bulls with a stick-bow. It should air this weekend:)
I also have a bison gear pack, bought after brush slapped against my pack in nw Montana as I was trying to get a little better shooting lane on a bull that was coming in. Good for day hunts but you will have to attach it to a frame for long pack ins.
Arizona, they don't give out many non-resident elk tags in Nevada you could apply a long time before drawing one. This will be my 16th year applying there and no tag yet! But this is the year:))
I wouldnt just ignore it. The more information you know about an area the better, and if they have had a significant winterkill than why not hunt an area that didn't? It has burnt me before, hunted the Clearwater in 97 or 98(I'm getting old) had a horrible hunt, found out later they lost 75%...
