I have only hunted mule deer in prarrie/bad land areas. My ratio has been pretty good but once I’m with in 100 to 200 yards I just wait until things are right than go kill them.

Just did my 205lb field dresses whitetail buck this week. 74lbs of meat that’s rib meat and I made tomahawk backstraps so had a little rib bone. Not sure how you could get more weight than what i got unless you add more bone.

I hunted the 12 until the 23 and heard very little elk bugling in 4 different units and 117 miles of hiking. The 18th was the only day i heard some angry bulls at dark. The only action I had was if I was calling right in their bedroom.

I just use a adjustable aluminum painting stick from the hardware store for $18 works great. If I leave the truck I’ll just use trekking poles or a tree.

I do a 5 pin slider 20-60 but what I really like is my color set up green/green split by red in middle with 2 more green pins. Having my 40 yard pin as red in the middle makes it super easy to know which pin is what. Takes the thought out of choosing the right pin.

What’s the best deal on a bear proof cooler that meets US Forest Service requirements? Don’t want to spend a fortune. Thanks

Saw a comparison video somewhere. DD has more stitching on tie outs and reinforced corners and they have a ultra light that is around 18 ounces I believe for only a little more.

I have the $65 bushcraft great tarp but the DD tarp may be a better bang for your dollar? Have not handled one but saw a comparison video and the DD tarp looks even better and I am impressed with the bush craft. My whole kit with line and stakes is 30 ounces.

It’s a touch heavy at 25 ounces in the bag but it is built like a tank and it was shipped to my door for just over $70. Should find lots of uses for it. Great way to get into using a tarp and made in the USA.

Trying to decide if I should go with a 10x7 or 10x10 tarp for backcountry shelter and rain / glassing protection. Is the 10x10 worth the xtra weight for the size? Thanks.
Looking hard at the aqua quest guide series tarps.
