    Wyoming Antelope .243

I have taken a few goats using a Sierra 100 gr pro hunter. It seems to work best in my rifle. Unless you can accurately compensate for wind and drop out to 500 yds and have experience hitting at that range I would pass on those shots - and I do. Getting into position for that sub 300 yd shot...

    2018 antelope help

Antelope are great DIY hunts provided you get a tag in a zone with good numbers of antelope and public access. The problem I have found is it usually takes 2-4 years to get enough points for these areas. I am going to a zone in WY this year that should make for an easy hunt with my cousin who...

0 degree Mummy Sleeping bag suggestions

I can't comment on what is out there now since I have been using the same 2 bags for about 30 years now, but I would advise you to go with a synthetic fill for two reasons. They provide more padding which can compensate for a thin pad, they perform better when damp, and where you are going...

    Quilt on a cot?

I have used pads and cots but now that I have an Exped Megamat I will never consider a cot again. The Megamat is long, wide and deep. Cots are always short and narrow. Sleeping on the large mat is as good as the bed in my home. After all day of climbing up and down mountain sides it is...

Alaska Fly-in King Salmon Trip Recommendations

Two years ago I spent a week at a fly-in camp way up the Mulchatna, Alaska Trophy Safaris. It was a great trip. Good guides, good food (considering where you are.) Caught kings, sockeye, Dolly Vardens, rainbows and grayling. Six days in the river and only saw one other outfit go through...

Show us your catch? FLY FISHING Thread

I will be in Hawaii fishing with Mike in a few weeks. I think I attached one of the bones I caught in Cuba last year.

    Range finding binos and scopes

I have a pair of the Ziess Victory (10 by 45). They work great. The optics are good, but in my opinion, not as good as Swarofski. My only complaint is they are large and heavy, but I much prefer this setup to a separate RF in my pocket.

    Greetings from MN

I used to go to Duluth to shoot at the United Northern Sportsmens Club. My mother lived in Duluth so I would go to the range, then stop by to see. Now that she is gone I am looking for a new range. I plan to try the Faribault range soon. Another friend shoots there. Do you have any other...

    Kuiu vs Sitka

This entire thread was about hi tech breathable fabrics (and politics I guess). In my experience under stress no breathable rain gear holds up. I have tried Kryptec, REI and Simms (know for fishing gear) and it is just a matter of time before your shoulders and forearms start to get wet...

    Brush Busting Pants?

Arborwear Tree Hugger pants are without question, the best I have seen or tried. The canvas weave is so tight it is more brier resistant than the double front pants. I hunt a lot of upland game and have seen every type of gear out there. For my money these are better and more comfortable than...

    Greetings from MN

I have found a lot of good info on this site so I thought I should join. I live in Minnesota but rarely hunt or fish here. Not enough pheasants to hunt so I try to get to the Dakotas for that (5 trips in 2016). I also like to fly fish both tropical salt water flats and Pacific coast rivers...
