    Are Honda/Toyota/Mazda/Subaru overrated?

Several people in my family have been driving Subaru’s for 25 years now. They all regularly have oil/gasket related issues before 200,000 including the two newest (2018/2019 Foresters). One person went with a Honda CRV last spring. Her first brand other than Subaru since the mid 90’s.

Hunting Birds in the Mountains Resources

This has been my experience as well. Not that you can’t get good info from books, forums, etc because you can. But you will learn a lot more just getting out there and doing it. Not just during the season but year round. Pay attention to the habitat you find them in. When you get them on the...

Do coyotes pose a real threat?

My dogs and I used to go for a walk in an unmaintained upland area in town. The last couple times we were there we were ran out by aggressive coyotes. This was a few years ago. It’s still a problem and getting worse. I wouldn’t mess around with them.

Who's going to be the first hunting 'celebrity' or Youtube personality to put their foot down and stop using cellular cameras?

Our legislature tries every legislative season to increase nonresident tag numbers and to get more antlerless deer shot. The bill referenced above did not pass. They will try to get it, and many other awful wildlife/hunting bills passed again next spring. Nonresident landowners and the Farm...

Do you take small game hunting as seriously as big game?

I take pheasant hunting seriously. Squirrel and rabbit hunting are fun. My kids and I love it. We mostly hunt later in the season after deer hunting. I shoot rabbits over my Springer when pheasant hunting.

How much planning do you guys do for small game?

No planning. I hunt squirrels (mostly fox) and rabbits a lot with my kids. Great hunting for both without all the hassle of big game hunting. Long seasons. No one else does it. Great public land options close by with both. What’s not to like? I love it.

    Common courtesy and decency

I’ve been a member for a long time but rarely post. Way too many people who can’t just move along. They have to argue. I don’t want to spend my time arguing with idiots on the internet. And guys can turn Almost anything into an argument. If it’s a thread you don’t like, a question you don’t...

IOWA - Water pollution & Livestock

You might not like it but is true whether you like it or not and whether I say it out loud or not. Agriculture does a lot of good in the state. But if we are gonna talk about the good we can also talk about the bad. The Farm Bureau has more power over the politicians in this state than any...

    Most fun bird to hunt?

In the northeast youre probably closest to decent ruffed grouse hunting. My favorite bird to hunt are pheasants. I like the places they live. It takes a tough relentless dog to be effective on them consistently. Quail over pointers are great but decent populations are hard to find. I have hunted...

    Too many podcasts?

I listen to fewer and fewer podcasts. Hunting podcasts talk about the same things over and over. I used to listen to several regularly. I cant remember the last hunting podcast I listened too. Many of the podcasts that were good years ago are now watered down. And everyone with 100 followers on...
