Evaluating sleeping bags and am stuck on what temp rating to choose; 0 vs. 15.
Will be used primarily in CO, for hunts ranging for archery through rifle. Ideally would be a single bag solution.
Is the 15 capable itself, or even when used with maybe a puffy or fleece when sleeping if needed...
Been researching heavily into Kuiu tent/shelter options for archery-early fall seasons in CO. Use case would be 1P. Since use would be early season, I don’t think a stove would be needed. Trying to be light-ish, easy to manage, and mobile as needed. Both seem to right around 3lbs if you use all...
Anyone have experience packing this size around for a backcountry shelter?
Assessing getting it to use for many uses; family tent, to front country base camp, to hopefully packing it in somewhere with 1-2+ other buddies.
On paper, montbell puffys seem to offer interesting statistics at great prices, but are they a quality product (build quality and durability)?
Thoughts?
Those with experience in these units, especially during 2nd and 3rd rifle seasons, I’d love to chat; privately or here publicly.
Sitting on a handful of deer points that are itching to be burned this year. Assessing these two as options.
Interested in access and overall quality of experience...
Seeking advice on which Kuiu hoodie is best suited to be worn as outer layer for archery elk?
Want it to be durable enough to not get destroyed from brush but not so heavy it’s too hot to wear in mild temps.
Peloton 97, pro merino, Strongfleece, other?
Looking into factory 6.5 PRC hunting rifles and at a crossroads. Use would be antelope/mule deer/general range shooting and the occasional use on elk. Seeking inputs on these options.
Browning Hells Canyon Speed vs. Bergara Wilderness Ridge.
Chose these two options as they both offer: 6.5...
Anyone use a bow jack/bipod/little stand while archery hunting?
Imagine use-case would be using one when stationary for extended periods.
Also could imagine useful when stalking toward and animal with bow-attached decoy facing animal?
Anybody had any success using an elk decoy as cover to hide behind as you move in closer to elk?
Elk area I hunt is open terrain so I’m brainstorming strategies to move to the elk if needed. Attempting to stalk around in the open, with pretty sparse and patchy cover has been a guaranteed loser...
Last few years I’ve have been archery hunting elk, typically solo, in a lower elevation location that has large open meadows and parks intermixed with rolling hills of oak brush.
The mostly open terrain, with patches of cover, is a puzzle that makes it pretty impossible to be mobile in pursuit...
Per Kuiu’s Points/Rewards program, “Inner Circle”, you receive a “special gift” when you earn your first 350 reward points.
Anyone have any clue what that actually means? Coupon, actual physical item, other?
Anyone have firsthand experience with the Kuiu Summit Refuge 3P?
Looking as an option that can be used for both summer camping with wife and dog, then be used during the fall for CO mountain hunting (archery-later rifle seasons) for 2 guys backpacking.
For those that know more about it, do...
Have gone down a rabbit hole this past week trying to read up as much as possible in regards to these three options for a new do-it-all pack system. Would love some of y’all to weigh in; the good and the bad. Help me get educated; especially if you’ve had experience with any or multiple of...
Is the lighter weight of the Summit Star worth it?
Expected use: early season: archery elk, summer scouting, and occasional mid-season: rifle deer/elk.
Seems like the mountain star is definitely more robust, but still described as lightweight.
Obviously the mountain Star is 2P and the...
From my understanding, both have comparable waterproof paneling in the knees, butt, and lower legs.
Talus has knee pads, while Axis does not.
Axis is apparently just a little warmer?
Anyone else that can provide some additional intel to help differentiate the features between the two, and...
Have an opportunity to buy a metcalf/Pintler combo that is pre-2020 at a very good price. Has the guide lite frame, not the new guide light MT frame/belt on the 2020 packs.
Are the new 2020 improvements to the frame, belt, and bags, really worth passing up buying the older models?
Are older...
Sitting on a pile of CO turkey points and want to cash in this spring. Would appreciate some advisement from others that have hunted the spring limited tags.
Cant decide between the river bottom rio tags vs perhaps a RFW tag.
Success data from prior year doesn’t suggest that the RFW tags are...
Seeking input regarding late season setup for elk/deer.
Scenario: Colorado. Potential Snow, Wind, Cold.
Y’all advise either a hybrid pant (like the the Kuiu Axis or Sitka Timberline), or prefer using a hardshell pant instead?
Foremost want to be able to stay dry, cut wind, and be reasonably...
