I'm not a "hipster" or an individual with money to burn. Just an old fart who likes to hunt. Every year for Fathers Day my kids get me stuff I wouldn't but myself. This year along with Shirts and Ties I got a 65qt Pelican. A few years back they gave me a 25qt Yeti.
Since we camp often we go...
Haha... I agree it's less convenient to quarter and pack an elk out in the dark. But it's also not real convenient to do the same in inclement weather. What happens if you shoot an animal at 10am, and end up tracking it for several hours?
You're losing some prime hunting hours.
I'm headed out for a weekend of scouting... So I won't be able to reply to any responses on this classified until Sunday evening (10-16). Hope everyone has a great weekend!
I'm selling a X-Lander watch which is a very good unit to have in remote areas. The functions of this watch include:
Altimeter, barometer, compass
Aluminium case, carbon fiber back with mineral glass
Cumulative altitude log
Altitude log
Vertical speed
Weather trend indicator
Multiple watch, date...
I've never relied on this app, but I found it a couple of years ago and can attest the layer which shows water sources is very good. The app is Gaia GPS.

I had a similar experience with my hardscrabbles a few of years ago. Luckily I had friends who swore by these boots or I would have thrown them in the trash. Two things I learned; 1) for me the lathrop & sons red footbed inserts eliminated the heel lift issue. 2) when the manufacturer says it...
I had issues with my K. Hardscrables. Tried lacing techniques found on this site which helped a bit, but in steep terrain my heels got eaten UP!!! Tried the red insert from L&S and... WOW! It worked!!! Wore the boots the entire 2014 elk season and had zero issues.
I had to switch to a stiffer sole boot because I kept injuring my plantar fascia at the base of my toes. Friends recommended Kenetrek boots. I got the Hardscrabble hikers which today I love. Last summer I wasn't so happy because the break-in process is a PITA... Kenetrek tells you it takes...
The company won't be around long because their product isn't that great. They went broke a couple of years ago and I'm sure we be back in the same position.
