I just pulled the trigger on the Hunter Extremes. We'll see how they pan out. I'm a little nervous about the lacing but they look like solid boots and I don't have $500 for the competition's.
What do you all look for when scouting in the summer for your late Fall spot? I'm very new at hunting and am not sure what would be a prime spot for when I'm out scouting this summer.
Thanks.
Howdy -
I recently bought a Browning X-Bolt Hell's Canyon Speed Bolt in 6.5 Creedmoor. After eyeing this rifle for about 6 months I am very excited to have finally pulled the trigger.
I am in a bit of a pickle with optics. I am very likely to mount the Vortex Razor HD LH (3-15x42mm) scope...
I am very happy and proud to say that I was fortunate this fall to harvest my first animal (mule deer) during my first real fall hunting season (I went turkey hunting in the Spring of 2018 for the first time).
Anyway, I am looking to find out ways I can keep it going until next Spring (without...
Thanks, guys.
I'll be in unit 18; planning on being in the area north of Hot Sulphur Springs and Parshall.
Are they more likely to hang out at lower elevations at this time?
First Mule (doe) hunt in Colorado
Howdy,
Thanks to everyone for such a great site... I've learned a lot from the group!
So, I'm going on my first mule hunt mid November. I'm a little nervous about finding them as I can only head out for the last weekend of 3rd rifle season. My fear is that...
Use your sleeping bag's stuff sack as a pillow.
I'd certainly bring an extra pair of socks... wet ones will ruin the trip (don't expect wet ones to dry overnight).
Not sure when or where you are going but it gets cold out here in the mountains. I backpacked in the Rockies every month in 2011...
Camofire.com and huntoftheday.com are good sites to check out for clothes and the occasional boot. I have Danners and really like them. More than $100 but I found them on sale which made them $70 less then normal. It can get cold in Colorado in October. If you tend to get cold easily, I would...
As to your sleep system...
(1) there are a lot of great, light-weight bags, tents, pads, etc. out there but they all cost $... that will be up to you. I'm certainly in the camp of buy once, cry once when it comes to camping gear. Like others have stated, you can find some great deals on-line...
A lot of folks have you ditching the boxers and socks... In my opinion you'll be glad to have them.
2L+6L does sound like a lot of water. I'd carry the 2L plus a (full) one liter nalgene (wrap some duct tape around the bottle).
Not sure about smell with your UA choice but wool is best.
Those...
