    S&B 6.5CM case

I don’t shoot 6.5 Creedmore. But S&B in .308 had some ridiculously tight primer pockets. I was very new to reloading when I was trying to use their cases so perhaps they were crimped and I didn’t know to look for it. Either way, I crushed a few primers early on. That was a good ten years ago...

Recommend a Turret Press rcbs or dillon? Others?

I think you’re comparing apples to oranges a bit here. Dillon doesn’t make a turret press but RCBS and Lee do. If you’re looking but not 100% sure you’ll be reloading in say a year, go with the Lee Classic turret press. It’s cheap enough that if you decide reloading isn’t for you, you didn’t...

    Painting a stock

I painted this Tikka stock using stencils and hated the results. I just sanded it down, re-primed and used different stencils. The old pattern’s stencil indentations telegraphed through a little, but it actually created some subtle texture. Much happier with the final result. For clear coat this...

Primer pocket size after multiple firings

Check these out. Basically a go- no go gauge for primer pockets. I don’t know a better way to check. https://ballistictools.com/store/small-and-large-primer-pocket-gauges

    Synthetic socks help

Ive got a ton of their socks, all but one pair being wool. The synthetic are just as nice in my opinion. Same lifetime guarantee too. That’s hard to beat.

Edit- Both are spoken for. The Danners are almost brand new but have been sitting unused for years. Size 9EE. The Salomons are still in decent shape but are broken in and dirty. Size 9D. Nothing wrong with the eyelets I just had them laced to try to keep using them. I need extra wides.

Rattle Can Sage Brush Camo paint suggestions

Krylon, Rustoleum plus USC Spraymax 2k matte clear. The clear is much flatter and more scratch and chemical resistant than the ones that the two spray paint companies make. It’s toxic as all get out so use a respirator. It’s a two part with the catalyst built into the bottom of the can. Once you...

    Early Season Boot

If you’re going to be moving the majority of the time, you shouldn’t have too much of an issue keeping warm with any of those boots. The Colorado’s are by far the most comfortable boots I’ve ever worn. My feet got pretty cold two years ago on a late November hunt when I posted up to glass for a...

Sell me on your Case Trimmer

+1 on the Franford Arsenal. Trim, chamfer, de-burr, and I run an RCBS primer pocket reamer in the third tool head when needed on crimped brass. Trimming setup is pretty straightforward and for the money, the whole setup is hard to beat.

New to Reloading - book suggestions?

+1 on The ABC’s of Reloading. Though there are seemingly many newer editions than the one I have. Also like others said, the Hornady, Lyman, Lee reloading manuals are great resources. Lot’s of good Internet forums to ask questions and garner some great info along with YouTube channels...

What did you do in the reloading room today?

I loaded up some 300WSM rounds to test 165 grain Hornady CX’s with Win 760 powder. Been using H4350 with this bullet but I can never leave well enough alone. Also loaded up 50 rounds of 6 arc to test 25 Speer 100 grain bullets with A2520 and 25 Hornady 105 grain BTHP Match bullets with CFE223...

Help me sort through all the Tikka variations, please.

Sportsmatch, Talley, Warne, DNZ all make good rings. I’ve run the Talley’s and DNZ’s and had no issues with either. I’ve read people complaining about the Talley’s but have had zero issues on two different 300 wsm’s.
