Anyone know of any Dall sheep being taken the last five days with the new youth hunt?
I'm looking forward to about four years from now when my boys are old enough to get after it.

First dall as a walk in hunt at 28, seven years latter I can count five to my tally and have helped a friend on three of his four.
Growing up in Alaska, I regret that I didn't start sheep hunting younger. My dad hunted the 'hard park' for sheep back in the day and had moved on from sheep to...
On the plus side of the changes this year, I can take my kids hunting in the youth hunt in Tom Shanksters back yard before he lets his legion of out of state guides loose. Or any other area dominated by guides.... Like the southern wrangles.
That was a great read.
I've never ever hear of anyone bringing a sheep back to the taxidermist to have the head and horns removed from the cape. Way too much extra weight there to be carried. Plus, I guess most are not able to get the animal out of the field that quick.
Nice sheep and...
If I was the other hunters I'd be moving in for the shot like they did. I disagree. They are free to hunt that area as well as you. They also ponied up a couple grand to fly out there, so I'm sure they were motivated to get a ram as well, even if they are a few paces behind you.
In the 8...
How long ago were those Rams taken? Based on the clothes I'd guess 25-20years ago. Am I wrong?
The truly are amazing looking animals. Also how many other sheep were harvested between these big boys? Just curious if you helped get 60 rams over many years and those were the highlights or if...

I found that Dall Sheep Trails by Ace Sommerfield was a great book about one mans journey through sheep hunting in Alaska.
Stories like this make me sick to my stomach. How can a wet behind the ears out of state assistant guide be out there putting clients lives at risk? The judgement of this out of state master guide is also appalling. It would be nice to have him get online and tell his side of the story.
Sorry...
For what it's worth, I've been on five goat kills with a 300 wby. Some were one shot quick kills and others took several shots to the vitals. All shot with partitions and acubonds.
