On Hawkins website they mention what height you need for your objective, this link for their rail rings: Hawkins. I things its a personal choice. I personally like rail + rings because it's easier to swap out. If you plan on shooting long range, 1000 yards +, a 20 moa rail will give you more...
Fair point, really look from something with no further zoom than 16x and in MOA. Ideally I want to be able to dial instead of using hold overs. Undecided on FFP vs SFP, I could make either option work.
I just bought my first new rifle in a decade (CA Mesa in 300 WM) and now I'm scope shopping and stuck over analyzing. I liked the SHV for the price, but I really want something with Zero Stop and that looks like it bumps me up to the next $$$ tier. Anything else I should consider? Has Leupold...
Bino harness that I bought from Hill People Gear at a trade show, attaches to molle webbing on their kit bags. Or I suppose anything else you have that accepts molle attachments. Only used on one trip and ended up going a different direction to carry my binos. This fits standard 10x42 binos. $30...
I was able to get an A tag. Haven't been able to harvest an elk yet, only deer. So I'm not going to be picky if I get an opportunity to tag out. I'll be scouting during August and hopefully find a couple solid spots.
I know you get what you pay for, but has anyone found a solid alternative to the Leica or Swarovski brand tripod adapters that will work for Geovids? If I have to fork up over $100 I will, but I'd rather spend that money elsewhere.
I appreciate it! If it makes you feel any better I am Idaho born and raised but I have heard that a lot of Cali people have been moving up there recently. Granted Utah is probably half Californians at the moment.
Thanks for the info guys. I've been to the city a few times and like it. My biggest hang up is leaving my long time hunting buddies and going back to solo hunting. Also paranoid about the job being a circus a regretting relocating my family.
2 hours isn't really that bad to get to some good...
I just received a job offer to relocate from the SLC area to Boise. Has anyone here made a similar move? One of the few things I like about SLC is that there are a lot of job options here while still being able to get to a trailhead within 20 minutes of my house. I really hate having to start...
So no one on the site has tried this out? I'm sorely tempted to pick it up either way, just wonder if the bladder would be sloshing around behind my head and drive me nuts.
I have the Nemo Hornet 2P (not the elite), and I love it. It's a pretty easy tent to pitch and has been great so far. I like the double vestibule and the tent is surprisingly light. Regardless of what you pick, the footprint is a waste of money. Buy a piece of tyvek and cut it to your tent's...
