Probably overthinking this but figured I’d see what everyone thinks. Got in on an Antelope hunt here last minute in eastern CO. I have the 4 bullets on my shelf that I can load for my 6.5 PRC. No appreciable precision difference between the 4.

Sounds like there’s a possibility of a “long” shot, but I think that probably only means 3-400 yards. I’d like to shoot the 156, but not sure if I should be worried about that bullet performing if it ends up being a 75 yard shot.

Thx.

Any of those would probably be devastating on an antelope from a 6.5 PRC. This year I shot one at 400 with a 143 ELD-X out of a Creedmoor with a MV of 2685. It entered 6" behind the shoulder and exited the back of the opposite front shoulder. It did a death run for 40 or 50 yards until it toppled.
I don't know what more I could ask for than a frangible bullet that holds together well enough to exit at 400 yds and destroys everything in between.

Ive killed quite a few animals with 147 and 140 eld-m's and they're easily the most devastating bullet I've ever used. They're basically a tipped Berger which I believe makes them more reliable.

Shot mine with the 127 LRX out of a 6.5 Wby RPM, (simlar to 6.5 PRC) at 375 yards and dropped without taking a single step. I would just shoot whatever you feel most comfortable with in your setup, shot distance could be long for late season. The 375 yard shot this year was the closest shot opportunity I had this year since I went at the end of the season in a highly pressured unit, they were very skittish.

Awesome, think I'll go with the LRX then. Like I said, I wanted to go the 156, especially looking at how well it bucks wind, but was worried about it grenading and meat etc.

Thanks everyone.

You can really overthink - I'm going next year on my 2nd antelope hunt. Will use .243 with Sierra Pro Hunter 100 gr. Same range as you - out to 400 pretty much.

They die quick & easy. Whatever you have on hand will work just fine.

The LRX should be great. I've dropped 6 of them with NBT, TTSX, ETips and LRX. The only one that ran was the NBT, but it was a short distance and had a massive exit wound. The other were all DRT, 270 Win and 280 Rem; all at about 200 yards.

143 gr eldx out of my 6.5cm at 205 yards broadside, double lung & heart, buck took two steps and tipped over. You'll be fine with any of those bullets on a goat.
