I am about get my 338RUM build from my gun builder and I have started digging around to find the right bullet for this gun. I originally wanted to use the Nosler 265 gr ABLR bullet but they seem to be pretty hard to find. I want a bullet that I can shoot out to 800 yards with a fair amount of accuracy. I picked up some 250 gr Accubonds I know the range that I am looking to get to is a bit of a stretch for this bullet but I thought I would work up a load anyways. What else should I be trying here? I am looking for a hunting bullet and I want to stay in that 250-265 range. Should I be trying the 265 LRX's ? What else have you had success with? Thanks in advance.

Just had one built in April. I tried Barnes LRX 265 and 280s. Solely hunting rifle. 280s were not any good. 265 5 shot groups were .450 and at 400 yards it stayed within 1.5 inches.

I would try the 250s and 265s

Has anyone out there shot Nosler Accubond 250's or Nosler Accubond 265 ABLR's with this combination?

Curious as to why you are settling on 250-265 weight bullets? My rifle is shooting 300's remarkably well.

I'm having a 338 RUM SAMMI chamber being built now as well on a 26 inch 9.3 tw tube.

I have a good lot of 300 bergers, 250 and 265 badlands SB IIs. They can be a little finicky from what I hear but that's somewhat common with high BC monos.

The 250 accubonds are proven killers and accurate enough to get you to 800. I have very limited experience with the ABLR but have heard they can be very finicky as well. And hard to find.

One other that's at times available would be the 250-300 Seirra match king.

Me personally, I'm hoping the 250 SB IIs shoot well. They have the BC and the rifle should attain the velocity allowing them to hang with the 300s out to 8-900 yards given the MV difference people are seeing.

Another great killing mono with bc similar to the accubond wound be the 250-265 Hammer.

Any reason you aren't considering the 250 Berger?
I really wanted to go with a bonded bullet for thick hides it just seems like they are proven killers. That said I shoot Bergers in my 6.5 PRC and have had good results with them.

I feel like 250-265 are enough for what I want to hunt plus I am hoping to shoot them in the 2900 range give or take.
