A little background on my hunting.

I live in northeast Iowa and mainly hunt whitetails, ducks, turkeys and pheasants. Have started to do some bigger game hunting and am looking to get a spotting scope. I have 600 bucks worth of Cabelas gift cards so that is where the 600 is coming from.

This fall I will be antelope hunting in Wyoming and maybe doing an OTC elk hunt if my schedule aligns.

Next January I will be doing an aoudad hunt in west texas and 2018 I am doing a moose float hunt in Alaska.

Looking for a good all around spotting scope that can be packed easy.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Jason

I have the vanguard endeavor HD 65. Its worked pretty well for me, doesn't compare to a swaro but I don't have $3k for a spotter. #budgethunting

Do you want the 15-45 flavor or the 20-60? Or are you unsure.... each person has a different definition of packable.

Thanks for the replies so far. Looks like a very nice spotting scope. 15-45 or 20-60? What do most people use? It will primarily be for elk, mule deer hunting but at some point in my life I will have to go sheep hunting either in the unlimiteds or a alaska dall sheep hunt.

I bought a 15-45 going off the recommendation of most people and their definition of packable but I feel that the scope spends most of its time almost maxed out which is when your quality suffers. I'm wanting a 20-60 for myself

I prefer a 80mm+ and 20-60 zoom but that comes with a weight penalty. That said I've used 50mm and 65mm spotters and my personal pref is the larger 80mm. The 60-65mm will get the job done and 15-45 zoom will as well.

15-45 60mm for me.

The big glass won't fit my packs. They are giant.
