Can I ask what you are using now?
I’ve been using Salomon Quest 4D which have the short 1/4-length rubber rand peeling away from the leather, but otherwise they’ve somehow held up. The toe cap/ 1/4-rand is adhered rather than a sewn integral part of the boot like the Lowas. I think I got 40 miles out of these and the tread is mostly gone on under the ball. My Lowas didn’t see a lot of miles, but did see a lot of kneeling, before the toe was toast.

I just grabbed a set of Kenetrek Desert Guides and Crispi Guides to try and I’m really liking the Crispis, they’re comfy.
