Brunton Carbon Fiber tripod $59 shipped

This is listed on the birdwatchers forum:

Carbon Fiber Tripod
- Head Unit with supplied plate is 1 lb, 3.6 oz
- Base (legs) without head unit is 3lb, 15.0 oz
- Total weight is 5 lb, 2.6 oz

Does anyone Knows if the outdoorsmans micro head would be compatible to the legs? Oh and thanks I just got mine😊

Received my tripods, (I picked up a couple) and first impression is *outstanding* value for the dough.
The head isn't much to write home about, but the legs appear stout, usable and smooth to operate.
I'll be sourcing a couple of good heads...
+1 for a great setup!

It is. Just got mine too, really impressed with the legs. Not the lightest but plenty tall and sturdy for the price.

I'm going to throw the head away and put the micro head from outdoorsman big difference with out the first 2 sections of the legs, I use some plastic leg tips for the end in case I decide to put the legs back .

Yeah, I just took off the rubber/metal tips on the lower legs and that was just north of 5 oz.

Eric, what is your closed height and maximum extended height after your mods? How hard was it to remove the 2 sections? And lastly, will it be easy to re-install them if you choose to? Thanks

It was pretty easy to do, I unscrew the second to last quick release and pull it out, I put painters tape at the end of to not lose any parts in case I wan

You can save about 6-7 oz of weight without affecting height by removing the tips at the bottom of the legs, the hook/insert on the center pole and the neoprene sleeves.

The outdoorsman medium tri is 2.6 with the shaved Brunton at 2.8 I think I will save sonme $$ this year and run a cut down Brunton. Thanks for the tutorial!

Very cool. Just bought a Vortex Summit SSP or I would be all over this. Great price and sweet mods. Tempted to buy one just for a loaner.
