Here are a few pics from my recent trip hunting Dagestan Tur in Azerbaijan.

We had a day in the city before going to base camp. Baku is a beautiful city with a mixture of modern opulence (marble footpaths) and historical treasures.

After wringing the Sprinters neck for 3 hours in 35c heat it’s no surprise we blew a diesel hose.

Early the next morning we began an 8 hour horse ride to a fly camp. We passed many shepherds living in basic shelters. They are very generous people who will give you everything they have (which is not much).

Awesome post, pics, and story! I love how the guides are wearing rubber boots in terrain like that. Would they even consider a mountaineering-type boot?

These guys are tough. They will outclass you in every aspect on the mountain and they do nothing by the book. They wear chinese rubber boots, packs with no waist straps, cheap cotton clothes and their diet consists largely of bread and cigarettes. One of my guides had a pair of Meindl Island Pro's (that someone had given him) but chose to wear his rubber boots as the Meindls were wet.

That is bad ass!! I've always thought that animal has the coolest looking horns. Looks wicked when the head is posed looking down. Congrats!! Looks like some real dangerous terrain.

Nice job man! I'm glad there is a still a country like that you can venture into for a hunt without worry of being shot at. Looks like some treacherous territory!

Wow, some great photos in some seriously sketchy country.

I love mountain hunting but the pucker factor on that hunt had to be high.

Great Tur, congrats!
