Is the Hanwag Alaska GTX too much boot for early elk?

I have a pair of HanWag Alaska GTX that im breaking in ( great boots for me so far), but they are indeed a burly boot, and do run warm on my training hikes…. Are they going to be to much boot for an early season elk hunt ( fairly rugged country, lots of off trail hiking expected)? Anyone else use this boot early season?
