I am looking for advice on a boot with long wearing soles. After 7 yrs it is time to replace my Meindl airweights. Before that I used their Ibex boots. Great boots and the leather and seams failed before the Vibram soles. In the past couple of years I have purchased both Lowa and Zamberlan hiking boots with Vibram soles. Because of an old ankle injury I seem to put pressure on my right outside heel. The soles are wearing on the hiking boots at that point to soon be unusable. I haven't noticed this problem with the old Meindls. First- anyone notice Vibram wearing faster and second- any recommendations for a boot with long wearing soles? Thanks in advance.

Why not have them resoled? I know several models of Zamberlan's can be. Sounds to me like you have a bit of a unique situation. You are applying wear in a very small spot. Going to be hard to counter that.

I think as rubber ages it can get harder too. Not positive about that tho.

If you go by the book, your high end hunting boot soles will only last for about 1000 miles of use before needing a resole.
