That base failing has nothing do with kimber so I don’t under stand how it would be on them?

The base didn't fall off, the head of the screw snapped off, leaving the screw part still in the base. Same thing that happened to my Leupolds (I replied in #4 above). I had to use that base because my scope ran out of windage adjustment, so I installed bases similar to OP to get the rifle "on paper".

I have a hard time seeing properly mounted/lapped one piece rings causing a scope to not have enough windage - not saying it didn't happen to you guys - but saying that seems indicative of another issue - like a scope internal issue, or mounting screw alignment etc... Kimber's, for all the flack they get here, are known for having very accurately drilled base holes, along with Tikka's, savages, etc... I could see a one-off or perhaps an older rifle having that tho... when I went from windage adjustable bases to 1 piece Talleys, I had to move the scope cross hairs back towards center a fair piece.

It definitely was the scope. This was back in 1988 or so, and the scope ran out of windage adjustment. I replaced it with a Zeiss Diavari-C, new bases and rings- All was well.

edited to add: It was the original Weatherby scope on a .340 Wby Mag Mark V. The scope's adjustments (windage and elevation) were both on the top of the scope. Never saw that on any other scope. I am thinking the scope had seen it's better days, so I changed it to the Zeiss. The rifle now wears a Swarovski Z5 in Talley rings and bases.

UPDATE:

I called and spoke to Kimber this morning regarding the base. As much flak as they get on forums for customer service issues and quality controls, the customer service was great. They offered to replace the bases or send a new screw. I declined as I will go to Talleys from here but I appreciate the service.

Just thought others should know.

I always hated the rear windage bases, all my friends swear by them and think I'm the one who is loco! Now I know who is loco!

You're still not getting it. It don't matter what brand of windage adjustable bases they are, Redfield Leupold or Kimber. They are ALL royal POS's. It is on YOU for even using them. Kimber has no fault. The fault is in the weak, crappy design. If you want stronger, use DD's or Talleys/Warnes or ANY freaking thing that ain't WA.......

Yes, I like Kimber roulette a lot but classic roulette has to be my favorite. I play it almost every day on https://yummyspins.com/list/best-online-casino/ and I can't get tired of it! I like that it doesn't require a lot of knowledge and tactics as poker or blackjack does. I like that I don't have to worry about anything when I am playing roulette and I can do it after work when I am tired. Also, the fact that roulette is based on pure luck and randomness and it can turn your mood around in a second is a very exciting thing for me. I can't wait to go on holiday again to play roulette again in a real casino.
