Kowa 663 vs 663M

Hoping someone can clear this up for me. Looking at picking up a 663 that i found a good deal on but im not sure of the diffences between the older 663 version and the newer 663M.

What are the differences and are they significant enough to hold out for a 663M model?

Also, what would you consider to be a "good" price on the 663 with the te9z 20-60 eyepiece?

If i remember correctly the differences are color and an added coating on the objective lens. I paid 275 for the 9z eye piece and 550 for for 663m body multiple years ago.

I think duck hunter nailed it. I’ve heard they put some new coating that makes it easier to clean or hydrophobic or something like that. $800 would be a fair price for that setup. If you get one also grab a 30x wide angle eyepiece and thank me later.

I had a 662, not even remotely close.

Optically they are sixes as far as I could tell. Even at 60x. Where the swaro wins out is in field of view, the te9z eyepiece has a very narrow fov. The 30x wide angle eyepiece in the 663/664 is about as good of an image as you’ll find in anything remotely close to $1000. Color, clarity, edge to edge, it doesn’t make sense how good it is for that price. I love my 664 scopes

Yeah I’d like to have the high end power though. If I were gonna go any smaller in mag I would go with the 553 I think
