Looking for a spotter I've seen great reviews on both these spotters. Do I save the money an just get the Cronus? Is the Maven worth the extra money? Arizona hunter mainly for Muleys if that helps

If you haven’t read this review, (or even if you have: https://backwoodspursuit.com/athlon-cronus-g2-spotting-scope-review/amp/), I can attest that it is accurate with both the pros and cons as I’ve tested out the G2 Cronus. The only con you can ‘mitigate’ somewhat is the unforgiving eye box by remembering to adjust the eye cup each time you switch from a near to a far zoom or vice versa to avoid kidney beaning/blacking out. But it’s still less forgiving than the Ares 15-45x65 where I didn’t have those issues. I noticed the narrow field of view from the 20x-30x range as well as the weight. Otherwise, I did think it had relatively good optics for its price range. I have not tried the Maven. Hopefully others who have tried both will chime in.

If you wanted to try in person first, Maven does have a demo program where you can try out a lightly used one for two weeks and return it if you don’t like it. (https://mavenbuilt.com/collections/demo-units). If you have Amazon Prime, you could try out the Cronus and do a free return - even free shipping- by 1/31. (https://www.amazon.com/Athlon-Optics-311004-20-60X86-Spotting/dp/B0BW15TMLX/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=U29XW1YAU9M8&keywords=athlon+cronus+g2&qid=1703357053&sprefix=athlon+cronus,aps,127&sr=8-1).

If you decide you like the Cronus, Doug gives great deals to rockslide members, possibly even less than the already stellar $850 (https://cameralandny.com/shop/athlo...4bd1-013b-8ba6-00163ecd2826?variation=3335914).

Here’s a link with some more info on different scopes. Several different links and reviews in there.

I’ve heard good things about the image quality of the Nikon Monarch Fieldscope 82ED. Though some think the view is fairly narrow.

I’m leaning toward getting a Kowa 773 from the classifieds.
