Old vs new trijicon accu point version

I'm looking at getting a trijicon accu point. Does anyone know are there any differences between the 2 versions of this scope other than zoom range? Is the glass the same? Id like to save some money and order a 3-9 if optically it's similar to the 2.5-12.5. I don't care about top end magnification.
