OR Columbian Whitetail

Had the opportunity to hunt Columbian Whitetail in Oregon on a friend’s ranch a couple of years ago. We set trail cameras about a month before the opening of the season and were able to pattern several mature bucks. On the first day of my hunt, one of those mature bucks presented himself, and I chose to pass in hopes of laying eyes on one of the other bucks we had photos of. That proved to be a good choice because on the second day one of the other big guys showed it and he was definitely a shooter. Please realize that this sub species of Whitetail is much smaller than the Midwest version… they are probably closer in size to a coues deer.
