Thanks for bringing that business to my attention. I work and live within miles of the address posted on their website. I just messaged them through their website to see if they allow possible customers in there to handle bows and look around before committing. If I hear back I will let you know what I find out.

I shot one once at my local range a couple years ago and handled one more recently.
Just as good looking up close, light in the hand but didn't feel flimsy. Can't say much more but very good initial experience and have heard good things.

Mike is a great dude and knows his shit as a bowyer. He makes a solid shooting bow. He is real close friends with Wade Morris (the bowyer that makes my longbows) and I’ve had the pleasure of a good many conversations with Mike. I’d recommend SaukTrail to anyone that was looking. If it feels good to you you’ll shoot it well and they look killer!!!🤙🤙🤙

Mike got back to me and his response was nothing short of perfect in my opinion. He said we could meet up at a local range and I could shoot some of his bows to see what works for me. No complaints so far.

I met up with Mike today and we did some talking, indoor shooting, outdoor shooting and just had lots of fun with bows. His bows are pieces of art and every one I shot was great. My favorite was the Kenu bc of the smaller size and ability to still launch an arrow. Needless to say I just ordered one and made my deposit. If you’re interested in doing the same go for it with confidence but realize I’ll be getting mine first!

I know it's purely subjective but, did you shoot the Dryden by chance? And if so, what were your thoughts?

Sure did. The grip was a little too wide for my liking but he had it made for a bigger hand and Mike said that grip size is something we would communicate and figure out. I’m pretty sure I shot almost every model he offers. All shot very well, I just happened to really like the little guy and it will fill a hunting niche for me.

Figured I'd revive this old thread because I got a call from Mike at Sauk Trail archery last night. My bow is next on the list! We talked about the features I want and the colors that I would like in it. I'm not a fancy man so I asked for a more natural look and color to the bow. I'm excited and when it is done I will definitely post pictures of my new Kenu here.

So I’ve had a couple conversations with Mike at Sauk Trail Archery since my last post. He also sent me pictures of a bunch of wood options and combos and we discussed them over the phone and by text. Today I got pictures of my riser and top limb in their current state. Bow porn!

Met with Mike today and he fit the grip to my liking. Now that is accomplished and I’m hoping to be shooting my new Saul Trail Saturday!

It has arrived! I met up with Mike after work today and we shot together for a bit. It shoots great! More details and pictures to come as I get more time with it and get a better feel for it (this picture is from the Sauk Trail Facebook page).

Sorry for the silence on this bow but I got it 3 days before season started and I didn’t want to learn/tune a new bow that close to the opener. But now that I’ve had some time here is what I have to say. I’m running full length Black Eagle 500 spine shafts with a brass insert and 125 grain heads. I tried 400 spine with a brass insert, 75 grains behind that and 125 grain head but it just didn’t fly to my liking. I got a Great Northern extreme kickback custom quiver which is awesome too. This bow is 41# at 28” and I pull around 30” so deer hunting won’t be a problem. This bow shoots quiet, looks sexy, is short/light and is ready for my hunt next weekend. Hope you like it and enjoy the bow porn. Also, the target picture is me shooting from multiple distances and angles in my basement.

Reviving this old thread but for good reason. Just got word that my 60" Dryden XR will be the next bow out of the shop. I ordered it 45# @ 28 and it will be a takedown model with a bow bolt. Here it is currently.

It is not in my hands yet but I was just informed by Mike that my new Sauk Trail bow is complete. Here are the basic details and I'll get more up when I finally get it and shoot it a bit.
2 piece Dryden XR recurve. Olive wood and Treebark riser with G10, and O/D green Mappa burl veneers over bamboo cores. 60” 46# @ 28”
