Sew footprints together to make tarp?

So I picked up a few of these Big Agnes tent footprints last year for cheap. I have a couple and I’m wondering on how to sew them together to make a lightweight tarp. Any tips or tricks? My wife has a sewing machine. See the pic of where I would sew them. I would seam seal here as well.

I’m wanting to use this as a pop up shelter for rain, or figure out a way to add as a vestibule to my Cimarron.
If I pitched it would it end up ripping where I sewed it?

Don't know why you couldn't. I made my own tarp similar to that, bought fabric and just sewed it in the middle. I used a flat felled seam. The slippery stuff is tricky to work with! May want to look into seam tape and then sew it if you haven't done much sewing. But I haven't actually used the tape so not exactly sure how it works. Good luck!

The edges of the footprints looks like this, so I think I’m just going sew them together right on top of each other.

Use a flat-felled seam like "joshdidthis" suggests, as it will create a very strong seam - much stronger than just overlapping. It will physically be more waterproof and even more so after sealing. Here is a good demonstration of sewing the seam that should make it easier to understand why. You may be able to secure the pieces for the initial stitch using blue painters tape and then peel it off afterwards - test it first. Good luck.

That is damned small for a tarp if you are planning on sleeping underneath it.
Not planning on sleeping under it. Like i said above, thinking of using as a pop up shelter to sit out a rainstorm or add a vestibule to my Cimarron.

I think it would work great. Like everyone else said do the flat felled seam. you may want to cut the hemmed edge off to keep the seam slimmer.

If you have trouble with the slippery fabric you could try using a walking foot if your sewing machine has one
