Tikka CTR - 5 Round Magazine

Last year I bought the 5-round magazine only to realize that its simply the same stock 10 round magazine with a plug in it. $85 wasted, or so I thought. I've had a little time on my hands lately and decided to modify that 5-round magazine. Using the supplied internals, I cut the casing just below the latching hole, welded a new bottom onto it, sanded and used Krylon camo black. I like the custom look with less magazine hanging out. Still holds 5 rounds and shaved 1.7oz (5.7oz dropped to 4.0oz) in the process. Now if I could drop the other 160oz I added last year...

Was thinking of doing this same thing but keeping the bottom rubber piece.

Also thinking going the other direction - doubling up to make a 20 rd

I debated about keeping the bottom piece but decided for the lower profile instead. If you end up making a 20rd mag, I'd like to see it when you're done.

what does the inside look like? is it a welded stop for the magazine?
