Ok fellas, lets have some fun. I'll make a list of gear everyone fills in the blank for their opinion of the best in each category. Let's say this is for an October rifle/bow elk or mule deer hunt at 9000+ feet. Oh, and money is no object:

Boots:
Raingear:
Puffy pants/coat:
Midlayer:
Baselayer:
Backpack:
Spotter:
Binos:
Tripod:
Gps:
Rifle/bow:
Scope (if rifle):
Knife:
Headlamp:
Rangefinder:
Trekking poles:
Sleeping bag:
Tent:
Misc/other:

Let's hear what you think is the best money can buy.

I only hunt with a rifle for coyotes....so this is a Bowhunting list

Boots: Solomen GTX
Raingear: Kuiu Chugash [no stinkin Gore Tex for me!]
Puffy pants/coat: Cabelas jacket [yeah that right, its sold in tall] Kuiu pant
Midlayer:Kuiu or Sitka traverse zip

Baselayer:Icebreaker or smartwool merino for underlayer, I sometimes use it as an outer layer like a LS Tee, I like the Kuiu blend for that as its tougher
Backpack: McHale custom in all Dyneema [mine is only 1/2]
Spotter: Zeiss Flouro...
Binos:Nikon EDGII 8x, Swaro SLC 10x or EL 10x [I prefer the SLC though the the EL's are arguably better]
Tripod:Sirui Carbon......there are a few comparable mnfrs

Gps:iPhone w/GAIA
bow: Morrison riser with Uukha HX limbs [currently shooting the EX1 Ev02]...or the flavor of the month Hoyt compound

Knife: Spyderco mule in PMA11, Benchmade steep country in S30V, Spyderco S90v
Headlamp:princeton tec with wide/spot
Rangefinder:Leopold w/OLED display

Trekking poles:BD cam lock
Sleeping bag:Montbell Stretch bag in Syn and down...but many good ones
Tent:Base camp a canvas wall tent with internal frame, backpack tent; HS Tarptent, group packing; Homemade tipi

Misc/other: Clothing line....hard to beat the Kuiu stuff even though its not the most expensive,
Tree Stands; Lone wolf or XOP- the only ones that are dead silent

My problem is that most of my "ultimate gear" has been discontinued, but I got it for cheap. The best elk hunting boots I've worn in 38 years of hunting are my Zamberlan Dakota's that were discontinued. Wish I had another 5+ pair sitting in the closet. Best part is, I only paid $89 for them. And I can't find better early season camo than my discontinued original Microtex Lite.......at any price.

So I guess at this point, most of my list would consist of all custom-made items, if money is no object.
