What did you do in the reloading room today?

I have since sold my Tikka Veil 6.5 PRC barrel but I checked my notes for the load I had settled on. 57.5 grains of N565, 143 ELD-X, .010” off lands (3.005” COAL to tip/2.380” to Ogive) Lapua brass and gm210m primers gave me 2900 FPS on the dot and very very tight groups. I went further but this grouped the best and had decent velocity.
Much appreciated, I’ll push a little bit more with the N565 to see if I can get there safely. Thanks!

6.5 PRC tinkering…shot pressure tests for StaBALL HD and N565 with 143gr ELD-Xs to see if they offer any improvements on H1000.
I didn't see what primer you're using but I have the same rifle and initially tested 57gr H1000 with a magnum primer and got 2950 out of it new, but ES was a little wild which I assumed was from the barrel being new. Approaching 200rds now and about to retest with a magnum primer to see if I can get some free juice. Might be worth a try if you're not doing so already.

Fed 215M primers

No doubt on your load recommendation. The load that is working the best for accuracy/velocity is 57.8gr of H1000 but my velocity is ~100fps less than what you are getting. I’m also at ~500’ MSL which has some negative effects.

Once I got some rounds on it I settled on 57gr with a CCI 200 @ 2850 and it's been very consistent, but I'm still curious if I can get some free velocity with more pop. Factory Tikka barrels just tend to be a bit slower than the cut rifled.

Been pretty busy lately but finally got back to reloading my first batch of cartridges. Went with 50gr TSX, and a ladder of H335 from 23.4gr to 24.6gr in 0.3 grain increments, 4 shots per charge. Trying to figure out a good charge for my 223 Gen II Ruger American. Really, though, I just wanted to get through all the steps in the process for the first time before I start down the full experimentation rabbit hole. Sat this batch to book COL. I'm not sold this is the best powder for this bullet but it was what was available locally. I definitely want to experiment with a few others. Snowing pretty good here this morning, supposed to calm down around lunch so hopefully the forecast holds I can shoot these past the Garmin today and see how they group. 🤞

Loaded up some 103 ELDx for testing in my new 6mm creedmoor barrel. Osprey, 1-7 twist, finished at 19" on my Tikka. I was pleasantly suprised at the speeds I got with the short tube.

Osprey 3b contour, looks very similar to a CTR profile from what I can tell. They turn the shank down to the Tikka OD.

Going to explore 1, 6, and 8 a bit more, but it looks promising. (end up being 4 shot groups, as the 1st shot is chronoed with the magneto attached, yep a Garmin would be sweet...) Going to load up 15 of each contender today and re-test. My first "Osprey" barrel but so far so good. Seems plenty accurate and cleans up fast, very little copper fouling through my first 100 rounds or so.

Juice doesn't seem worth the squeeze to go prc. Lots of posts about underwhelming velocity lately. 6.5cm tikka can push close to 2750 with rl16 and a 147.
