I'm needing to put a scope on my gun and I can be indecisive at times, this is one of those times. The scopes are

VX-2 3-9x40mm
VX-3 2.5-8x36mm
VX-3 3.5-10x40mm

Well heck lets throw in the VX-2 ultra lite 3-9x33mm

I know I'm splitting hairs with this but hey why not. Rifle well be my general use backpack gun. Also if any body know how much ruger rings weigh that would be helpful the gun is 7lb. 4oz. I know the weight of the scopes so that leaves the rings. I know its no lite weight but I'm hoping the end weight is about 8 1/2lb.

I voted for the VX3 3.5-10x40. I have a VX3 4.5-14x50 and I love it. Just wish I would gave gone with the 40mm objective.

I chewed on the scope debate for a good bit, finally settled on the VX2 3-9. To me, it wasn't much sense to throw a heavy scope on a rifle I was wanting to keep light. Should do plenty fine.

I'm in a similar boat right now and trying to decide between vx2 3-9 vs vx3 2.5-8. I'm not sure if the extra cost of the vx 3 is worth it and I like the LR duplex reticle more than the Boone and Crockett reticle that the 2.5-8 comes in.

I ran the VX3 3.5-10 x 40 CDS on a Kimber Montana .325 WSM. It was a great combination.

Can't go wrong with a VX-3, but I'd pick a 4.5-14x50mm or 6.5-20x50mm. Send it to the custom shop for M1 knobs, then get a zero stop kit from ivoryhornoutfitting.com.

I voted for the 2.5. I took a guy hunting that was a
Sales rep for leuy. He said the combination of dimensions on the 2.5-8 made it their best scope ever. Best selling scope and best light transmitting scope. I've looked thru almost every brand of scope out there that my clients had. I still remember the day I looked thru the 2.5-8. That was almost 15 years ago. I now own three or four of them.
