Some primers are hotter than others too:

Any more when I get a new gun I'll buy some good factory ammo to establish a baseline. If it shoots well then I'll keep it, if not I sell it and get something else.
Oh man some of the posts in here.
Holding definitely works, just reference the horus reticles. They sponsored competition teams and did long range hunting things to prove that it worked and wasn't some kind of voodoo. Now hunter scopes with holdover reticles and tactical scopes with christmas...
I think they're talking about the days of capped turrets that needed a penny to turn them so you'd zero at 200 or 300 and then hold over or under. A ton of deer and elk have been killed that way. Nowadays you can get a hunting scope that has zero stop turrets, a christmas tree reticle so you can...
It's a soft point hunting bullet no different than a whole bunch of others and will kill coyotes and deer just fine. The gameking is much more accurate like a sierra match.
It's a 3 round into 1" guaranteed rifle, that's the standard, yours is working fine. If you want actual small groups a rifle like this will be a lot more fun on the range but not so fun to tote around, plus it costs more, that's the tradeoff:
1MOA can win a lot of long distance competitions if you get the wind calls right.
I'm surprised the guys is unhappy with 5 rounds into an inch from a lightweight off the shelf hunting rifle. Plus that caliber can hunt all sorts of things - coyotes, deer, pigs, elk with the right bullet. He has...
It depends on the rules and the stage. Switching between targets you might dial the first and hold the second. Other times you aren't allowed to touch the scope at all and are on a timer. Or if its known distance and not on a timer. If someone is spotting you or calling corrections. If you are...
There's actual competitions where that happens on steel targets or silhouettes and holding is faster than dialing. Three gun guys for example. Or do one of those rifle clinics where one guy has a semi and spots the guy with the bolt action rifle. You'll see the guy with the bolt gun spotting for...
A scope with a floating center dot and a christmas tree that you can dial or hold is ideal. If you don't have a lot of money a cheap BDC scope would be my pick. Most cheap dialing scopes apart from the SWFA do not have accurate adjustments or do weird things when you dial them, or the knobs are...
I've been using it for quite awhile in my 6.5 creedmoor and haven't noticed any problems. It's very good stuff unfortunately people have discovered that it's very good so the price went up.
