I would be interested in either really. Whichever is predominantly on public. Since I am going out of state and I had to pick one, it would be mule deer.
I have heard that the unit right next to SD had quite a few deer, Unit 4 I think? But yes, you are correct, nothing is better than actually getting out to see the area. It isn't too far from me, that is why Region A appeals to me, it is a relatively easy drive. I know most places you hunt on...
Thanks for the response. Do you think that there are pros and cons to each unit in Region A? Perhaps Unit 1 has more deer but less public and deer are on private more. Perhaps Unit 2 has a little less deer, maybe, but the deer found have a better chance of being on public land...etc, etc? My...
Don't want to buy a scope for $1200 so you buy the $900 scope. Then you realize that you should have gotten the better one and sell the $900 scope to a buddy for $700 (if your lucky). You then take that $700 and put it towards the $1200 scope. Now remember when you didn't want to pay $1200...
Optics and electronics.....you get what you pay for. I agree with all the above posts. Vortex is good for what it is, but most will eventually move on from them. They are a good "gateway drug" into the wormhole of optics.
The big box stores get them more often than you think, they just don't have announcement or anything like that so check the usual suspects. I got mine from Precision Reloading (precisionreloading.com) which is out of SD. Don't quote me, but it seems that in a tri-state area, they ship SpeeDee...
I use the AMP machine. It is worth the money. I had the old torch set up but now if I want to do 5 or 10 or so casings, I simply turn it on, anneal, then turn it off. No lost time due to set up and what not. I actually shoot factory ammo for hunting, just do to the fact that over the years I...
Go with the V3 Auto Throw and Trickle. You will not regret it. The Bluetooth ability saves time when you are changing loads by .2, .3, or .5 grains for each load. I had been using the FX120i for about 5 years and the V2 for 2 years. Just got the V3 in Dec. and it is great. I use all the Area 419...
Have the same thing in a .25-06 that I got for my first deer rifle in 1999. Shot factory Federal Premium ammo through it loaded with the Nosler Partition bullet. Shot prob 3" groups at 100 yards its whole like with that ammo. I hand loaded 120 gr. Nosler Partitions and it would shoot prob 1"...
