I haven't killed a deer in quite a while and I voted for the 7mm family but the .270 and 7mm Rem have done most of my dirty work. If I was to start over the 6.5 Creed would be on my shortlist mainly because
a) I don't like recoil anymore (too old)
b) Our Texas whitetails of the Hill Country...
They managed to lose my pre-employment / DOT FAA drug test last month for 3 weeks. Medical review doc bounced my results due to "interference" with the testing which was likely caused by bacteria growth in the lost and found sample. He had no choice but to send me for a second, observed test...
I shoot an SX3 and learned to reach out with my middle finger and close the jaw. After several thousand reps it's all but an unconscious act. The last time I shot a hinge I caught myself trying to do the same thing.
Changed mine from 28.5" to 29". When the bow shop measured me and did the math and came up with 28.0". Based on working with a coach and noticing that I couldn't get my string to my nose made me go longer. It's much more comfortable and my shooting is improving as well due to a consistent anchor.
I turn 62 this month and have applied for my SS. In my case this isn't entirely voluntary. I've been in aerospace manufacturing for over 40 years. The first 10 were with a major that decided to close the division I was working at. The next 30 were in small companies that ended up being sold, one...
Spot Hogg or Axcel. Buy once, cry once!
I'm running a Spot Hogg Fast Eddie XL, 5 pin on my VXR and wouldn't change with the possible exception of a Fast Eddie with the hard mount instead of the rail. I run an Axcel Achieve on my target bow and that's the biggest reason I went with the XL...
Makes me wish even more that I hadn't sold my Traverse and Halon 32 last year. Recently bought a VXR 31 and I don't see anything in the new bows that would make me spend more money. I was hoping for a 33"-34" ATA bow in a normal draw length range. At 28.5" I'm just out of the Atlas range.......
One thing to add. If you hit bone with any centerfire rifle other than a .17 you'll get hide damage to some degree. That was another reason I liked the shotgun, I never lost money on 'yotes killed with it since the holes were small. We sold most of our hides "in the round" or in other words on...
A couple of buddies and I were pretty serious coyote hunters in the TX panhandle back in the 80's when fur was worth a little more than now. The best we found was a 22/250 with a 50-55 gr bullet pushed as hard as you could get it safely. Most of our shots were at 250-400 yards on wheat fields...
Just ordered a new TRX38G2 target bow on October 8th, current ETA is "around" January 1, 2021. Since this is a new model that may be part of the issue. Talked to a guy at the shop that was having his new PSE set-up, his wait time was 4 weeks from order to delivery. FWIW, the shop I buy from is a...
